Watch out readers, Danielle Joseph has done it again. Indigo Blues is hot off the presses and a totally cool read. Have you ever listened to a song on the radio and wondered if it was written about a real person? Have you ever wished you were that person? (well, if it was about a rocker being totally in love with you) I'll fess up and say I have…for sure. But, Indigo Jackson—the girl MC in the book—soooo does not want the attention that suddenly swarms her small town life when her ex-beau Adam—the guy MC in the book—writes a song about how she broke his heart. The song catapults Adam and his band mates to national superstar status in only a matter of weeks. But he's crushed when Indigo won't return his calls or text messages. Meanwhile, Indigo stews while trying to figure out how to deal with her sudden fame, including the people who hate her for being such a heartbreaker. The one thing Indigo and Adam do have in common—well, besides the hit song—is that neither likes the limelight. Is that enough to bring them back together? Told in alternating points of view, Danielle has written a novel that's as feel good as your favorite pick-me-up song.
Kerry: i think danielle really rocked this book, right?
michelle: definitely
jill: really cool premise...so different, and interesting! Love the boy.girl POV
Kerry: the multiple POV was done really well
michelle: me too, jill. it wouldn't have been the same story if it was just told by indigo
jill: i agree,
michelle. i liked hearing both sides of the story
michelle:i love stories about musicians
Kerry: the band sounded like some cool guys
jill: yeah, cool lyrics!
michelle, i know you like music books. i haven't read too many but this one was great
Kerry: about the lyrics...
michelle: I could tell it was based on the song by The Plain White Tees, right?
jill: What? Who?
Kerry: well, that's where she got the idea for it, yeah
Kerry: super-cool
Kerry: Hey There, Delilah
jill: hmm...i didn't know that
jill: oh!
Kerry: she mentioned it at her signing...how did delilah feel?
michelle: yeah -- I guess there was a real delilah
jill: love that song
michelle: found by the media
Kerry: delilah was found?
michelle: i'm pretty sure
Kerry: wow!
Kerry: didn't know that part...so would you want to be found?
Kerry: I mean, there are plenty of girls that would love the instant fame and attention
jill: depends on if the song was nice or not...
Kerry: lol
michelle: hmmm...probably not!
michelle: but it might be flattering to have a song written about you :)
Kerry: part of me thought she should be a little bit flattered, though
Kerry: jinx
michelle
jill: you know, like Cold Play's "Green Eyes" such a sweet song...but written for his ex girlfriend!
Kerry: yeah, that'd be ok
jill: I agree kerry
michelle: Layla -- by eric clapton
michelle: i heard that was about george harrison's wife
jill: totally
Kerry: ooooo
michelle: maybe before marriage
Kerry: i didn't think the lyrics for Indigo Blues were that bad
michelle: i agree
Kerry...i think she made the situation worse than the song
jill: i don't either. sounded like normal break up stuff to me!
Kerry: yeah, not like mega-embarrassing or anything
michelle: but which character were you more sympathetic too -- indigo or adam?
jill: adam for me
jill: boo hoo indigo
Kerry: adam for me too, though he wigged out for a while near the end with that hannah girl
michelle: at first i was sympathetic to indigo...because she was saying what a loser he was and i believed her, but the more i got to know him....i changed my mind
Kerry: but, for a super-private person, she might have reacted normally
jill: what do you mean kerry? about the wigging out
Kerry: ooo, he went all out of his norm when he started dating that girl
michelle: i agree jill -- he saw the "clingy-ness" with hannah
jill: exactly. but I'm glad he did it--it made him realize a thing or two
michelle: and i thought indigo learned from tripp. agree?
jill: totally.
Kerry: for sure
michelle: total reversal!
Kerry: jerk!
michelle: tripp?
jill: yeah, but that was a given
Kerry: did what happened with tripp make her like adam more?
jill: i think so
michelle: it made her understand his feelings
jill: yup
jill: I think hannah made indigo realize that adam wasn't a total loser, too
Kerry: i kept wanting to hear the music for the lyrics in my head!!! i wish there was a real song. i'm not good with music so i couldn't come up with a tune on my own but i'd love to hear this recorded someday
michelle: well maybe...danielle's running that contest!
Kerry: true
michelle! too bad i don't stand a chance.
michelle: lol-kerry! me either!
Kerry: but if you're musically inclined, check out danielle's site. it's like the best contest ever!!!
Kerry: funniest scene for me...
michelle: ?
Kerry: dinner with the girl who's mean when she tells indigo that indigo has a blog. Then indigo spit chips across the table
michelle: yeah...that was pretty funny.
Kerry: i could totally picture it
jill: oh yeah, kerry, that was funny
michelle: indigo was very funny--spunky
Kerry: would have loved to see her dump coffee on the girl too
michelle: yep
jill: yeah, I've always wanted to do that to the "mean girl"
michelle: i liked indigo's BFF
Kerry: yeah, cat was great
michelle: yes...a really good friend
jill: yeah, she was like a total rock for indigo
michelle: except in nyc, when indigo was kinda a "rock" for her.
jill: that's so true,
michelle about NYC
Kerry: glad she was there for Indigo rather than buying into the fame of it all
jill: I also really liked eli, cool kid
michelle: eli was the most mature! lol!
Kerry: yeah, but i'd have killed him if he was my bro
Kerry: lol
michelle: i thought he did the right thing!
Kerry: not when he was answering the phone for reporters
michelle: he helped her confront everything, instead of just stewing about it
michelle: it finally "went away" when she finally talked to a reporter.
jill: totally, but it didn't go how the reporter wanted it to! LOL
Kerry: he did help her confront it, but were his intentions the best?
it would have gone away eventually anyway
michelle: i think so...he kept saying just talk to them and he was calling adam...i didn't get the feeling he was calling adam because of fame
michelle: but for indigo
jill: i agree...more like a big bro thing
Kerry: really? i kinda thought he called adam for the fame at first
michelle: i thought he actually liked adam
Kerry: i think he liked adam for sure but also liked the fame and who adam was
Kerry: so, do you think they ended up together?
jill: yes
Kerry: i kinda think they do too but that’s just because I like happy endings
michelle: i don't know if they ended up together
Kerry: why, m?
michelle: but felt like they might try again
Kerry: it would be hard, for sure...with the distance and his success
jill: do you think so?
michelle: it never really felt like he was "the one" for her
Kerry: i agree, m. she was the one for adam, no doubt. but, unless tripp really changed her, not sure she'd have strong feelings for adam. it was never there
jill: oh! I think maybe he was the one for her~
michelle: i'd be interested to see what happened-- maybe danielle can tell us. LOL
Kerry: maybe she can post it on our facebook wall for the readers to get better insight
michelle: that'd be cool!!!!!
jill: hmm...good idea, K
Kerry: sticky note’s been posted to contact danielle. WRN?ers…stay tuned! And here’s the link to danielle’s site for the scoop on the Indigo Blues contest: www.daniellejoseph.com/indigoblues/contests.
